Opportunity type

The scholarship will be for 3 years, October 2023 – October 2026, and will cover the full tuition fees (home or overseas) plus stipend at the UKRI rate (currently GBP 17,668 pa).

The suitable candidate would be expected to propose and work on a project related to advancing the new paradigm for evaluation of forensic evidence. This could involve application in a branch of forensic science in which FDSL already works (see https://forensic-data-science.net/), or, potentially, another area such as facial recognition, gait analysis, or blood-stain pattern analysis. Work on authorship attribution could potentially be co-supervised by another member of the Aston Institute for Forensic Linguistics.

Interested individuals should first familiarize themselves with FDSLs work, then contact FDSL Director Dr Morrison to discuss potential projects. They should do this as early as possible. We will assist suitable candidates with refining their application.

Dr Geoffrey Stewart Morrison
