Topics for each surgery are entirely set by attendees, and questions could cover anything from volume crime techniques to techniques involved in major crime and specialist areas. Booking is essential for all attendees and only those working in police forces are eligible to attend.
Depending on demand, surgeries will be available weekly at 10:00-11:00 on Fridays, using Microsoft Teams.
Hosted by FCN and Transforming Forensics (TF) accreditation specialists, the surgeries will help members prepare for an upcoming UKAS assessments or resolve validation findings from any pre or initial assessments.
Private meetings are also available on request with the FCN and TF team for practitioners who wish to discuss CSI validation in a confidential space.
Opening bookings for the launch event, FCN Validation Specialist, Hema Kotecha, said:
“Forces are all facing similar challenges for validating their CSI activity, so we want to create a regular space they can collaborate with each other and share pieces of work. This is the perfect opportunity to get answers to any burning questions about validation. We want to provide real-time solutions to real-time problems. Come along, share what you’re struggling with or any pieces of validation you’re unable to progress with, and we’ll help troubleshoot for you.”
The sessions also give attendees the opportunity to influence and shape a CSI validation roll-out plan that can deliver benefits to all through 'validate once, verify many'. Trending topics highlighted by the CSI community will be progressed in the CSI validation workstream open to policing CSI colleagues and supported by FCN’s new Quality Specialist, Luanne Oliver, along with Kevin Sullivan and Lorna Markillie.
