What is your main area of expertise?

Quality accreditation and compliance assistance specialising in ISO 15189 and Sexual Assault Referral Centres.  The principles and application of accreditation and compliance to processes including risk assessment and their management.

How do you help the FCN’s stakeholders in policing and beyond?

Ensuring that benefits and efficiencies can be realised whilst also improving the quality of forensic services.

Which piece of work delivered in the FCN are you proudest of?

Every achievement within the SARC Accreditation Support Network makes me proud.  The completion of a cleaning validation with potential to be used nationally across multiple disciplines is just one of them.  There is more to come.  Watch this space!

What is your favourite part of your role?

I enjoy working with the community to understand and work through the challenges together.  I feel privileged to frequently speak with the people that I get to on a daily basis – both internally and externally.

What was your first job in policing or forensics?

Quality Officer with the Forensic Capability Network 😂

How did you get into a career in forensics?

After 15 years within the NHS as a Biomedical Scientist, the opportunity to apply for the role of Quality Officer within the FCN presented itself.  I have always had an interest in forensics, and I thought that my experience with ISO accreditation and quality management would be an asset to the team– I am forever grateful that Debbie Pendry also saw that and gave me this opportunity.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love an old traditional pub, a trip to the beach and a bit of sport – more spectating than participating nowadays!
