The purpose of the Forensic Examination Officer is to provide a service to the Scientific Support Department and the Force, both within the laboratory and at scenes of crime, by employing a wide range of specialist forensic techniques in order to recover, record and examine forensic evidence

The role involves the review of accreditation policies from an impartial perspective to ensure that the force processes meet the relevant standards according to the relevant Codes of Practice and the Forensic Science Regulator Act, as well as assisting in their creation and development.
