A national database could have many potential benefits, in keeping with the FCN’s ethos of doing something once, for the benefit of many. For example, it could help with fingerprint training right up to expert level. It could also make training across teams easier and more consistent.

The GTD working group is already working on a national approach to policies relating to donor consent, collection and grading of material, with a view to standardising and improving processes. A national database would be consistent with this approach as well as acting as proof of concept for other national GTDs, for footwear and digital.

The aim of this event is to have an initial discussion and gather user requirements for a fingerprint GTD. This information will be reported to National fingerprint & footwear strategic board.

We look forward to seeing you on the 12th.
