National contingency plan for forensic services

FCN’s national contingency plan is designed to ensure continuity of forensic provision in the event of a forensic supplier failure. Find out more.

FCN’s national contingency plan provides a co-ordinated, national response that will ensure continued forensic provision to all affected forces in the event of a failure of a forensic supplier, such as liquidation or market exit.

As part of this work, we:

  • Monitor supplier capacity and financial viability
  • Set the policy for national emergency pricing
  • Co-ordinate and manage the strategic response during an incident

Our team

The FCN’s specialist commercial services team has significant experience in the forensic science and policing sector.

All requests for support will be acknowledged within seven days, followed by a more detailed response once the request has been reviewed by the appropriate specialist.

In particular, the team has substantial experience in managing issues arising in the supplier market place and working with forces locally, regionally and nationally to manage critical incidents in forensic supply.
