The Forensic Science Regulator has set out the importance of a flourishing forensics science market. FCN has played a central role in enabling this, stabilising the market and working toward an improved future for forensic science.
We are creating a sustainable and competitive supply base of forensic science services, and acting as an incubator for innovation. Our remit includes Ident 1, PACE and Crime Scene, digital forensics, DNA, toxicology drugs and other specialisms.
To support this, the FCN commercial team is:
- Undertaking horizon scanning to identify new entrants to the market
- Performing due diligence on suppliers to identify threats and opportunities
- Working with suppliers to understand their capabilities and how these could help members
- Understanding supplier constraints, identify any viability issues and agree actions
Incubator for innovation
FCN wants to encourage and incentivise innovation in forensic services. To support this, we are working with stakeholders to identify potential new technologies, practices or methodologies that might broaden the market place or bring new innovation.
By creating an incubator for innovation, we will pull through technologies, practices or methodologies into the operational environment.
The FCN’s specialist commercial services team has significant experience in the forensic science and policing sectors.
All requests for support will be acknowledged within seven days, followed by a more detailed response once the request has been reviewed by the appropriate specialist.
